Chuck Baker Wall Art

Chuck Baker (Born 1947) was born in Galesburg, Illinois. He thinks of art as remnant. He constantly questions the idea of authenticity and feels art bears witness to culture. Baker explores the mass production of images and stylization, and the commodification of objects. Vacuum forming, stencil making and die making are the primary processes through which his Art becomes a Product. These processes allow the artist to eliminating the solitude of the image and to manufacture his work in multiples. His site specific sculptures and paintings are often displayed in bags or boxes and are visually convincing as commercially packaged objects. Baker investigates the idea of packaging art and the collision of creativity and marketing. The artist has turned his studio into a theatre, changing the introverted act of painting into a theatrical event or happening for his audience.

He enjoys interacting with artists of all disciplines and finds that collective and collaborative artistic efforts formulate a recipe for creative success. Baker is a graduate of the University of Windsor from where he obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He also studied at the University of Western Ontario and obtained a Bachelor of Education from. He also holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Waterloo. With such a strong academic background, he’s able to produce pieces of art that are appealing to his clients because he understands their needs. Baker’s innate ability and enthusiasm to be in the right place at the right time have always served him well.
