Mike Sleeper began making photographs at the early age of 13. He graduated from Boston College, after which he became a commercial photographer. This made him to travel worldwide to serve numerous corporate clients. Lately, he turned his attention to more personal work, and concentrates primarily on portraiture and landscapes. His portfolio exhibits a wide range of fine art photography. For over 5 years, he’s been collaborating with FOCUS GALLERY owner and friend Cindy Vallino on large format prints of his photography. Because he deals in film originals, his photographs can be reproduced to sizes that are extraordinary and in astounding richness of detail, color and tonality. Many of these prints are in sizes of up to 120 inches.
His art has found its way to businesses and homes across the country. Sleeper has had a number of group and solo exhibitions of his work and has won many best of show awards on the South Shore of Boston, such as the Duxbury Arts Association Summer Show, North River Arts Festival, Plymouth Art Guild and Pembroke Arts Festival. Sleeper says that everyone is a photographer on some level, but what separates him from everyone is that he believes it is his desire to create photographs that transport the viewers - photographs that bring them the memories of where they have been or where they want to go. He strives to produce images that remind his viewers of the beauty that surrounds them on an everyday basis. He tries to interpret the locations he photographs more than to depict them as exactly how they appeared in real life.
