Albert Williams Wall Art

Albert Williams (Born in March, 1922) was born in Sussex. Both his grandfather and father were artists and they were the one who inspired him to become an artist. Having studied painting with them, he attended art schools in Paris and London. Williams studied portrait and figure painting under the late Ginnett Louis as well as water-color and landscape painting under the late Knight Charles. He has had his works exhibited at the Royal Society of Oil Painters, the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Water-color Society, the Edinburgh Festival, the Paris Salon, and at a myriad of other prestigious galleries in London and around the country. Williams specializes in floral painting and he has done this for many years – he mostly works in oil. He continually takes his compositions directly from nature, with each flower being a portrait of an individual bloom that he incorporates into the final composition.

Williams was influenced by the Dutch seventeenth century School of flower painting in the early years and by Gerard Van Spændonck’s botanical draughtsmanship. He soon discarded the classical style which he considered to be tight and restrictive and began to paint modern flowers with a more personal and natural style. Presently, he works away from his earlier botanical style of painting to create an easier, freer mood in his work. Williams paints daily, especially during the season which extends from spring to autumn. In case a piece of art is not to be completed during the season of its subject, he will be put it aside until the flowers are available next season.
