Jan Benz Wall Art

Jan Benz exhibits and participates in juried and regional shows and competitions and has won numerous awards. Her art has been received well by the viewers and art critics who usually give her positive reviews. Jan loved art from childhood and has been drawing the animals around her since she was a teenager. She creates realistic traditional works of art in watercolor. Her art combines her love of animals with her appreciation of beauty. Since 1980 she has been an active painter; that’s when she completed the Famous Artist Fine Art Course. She has been focusing on portraits of the domestic cats, depicting their inborn beauty and mystery in an outdoor or still life setting incorporating antiques, laces, flowers, and other beautiful objects. She has completed adult education classes in painting and drawing and holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Arizona.

Jan strives to capture the unique character and personality of each cat she portrays. She produces note cards and Limited Edition prints in addition to her originals. Jan also teaches a workshop at the Hoag Memorial Gallery in Silver Lake, NY through the Arts Council of Wyoming County. She currently lives with her husband, collie, on a farm in Western New York where they own several cats, and there’s abundant wildlife. Her art has found its way into many galleries, museums and homes. They can also be seen hanging on some of the prestigious spaces in the world. Her art is highly priced by some discerning collectors because of their high quality and demand.
