Aziz Kadmiri is Moroccan born artist. In 2012, he landed in Atlanta and hit the ground running to the American art scene. His keen artistic sensibility and sense of design were recognized early and many people encouraged him to consider taking art as a career. His mother began collecting his drawings when he was a child, but he hasn’t checked if her mother kept them. Kadmiri’s art is informed by a hunger and curiosity for everything the visual world offers. The artist is equally drawn to architecture, fashion, landscapes, graphic design, animals, people and cityscapes. He admits that his first serious love was that of painting beautiful women. Kadmiri’s favorite museum is the Louvre. It’s here that he frequently visits to admire and learn from the arts of other artists. He considers Rome to be the most aesthetically stimulating city in the world. Kadmiri’s imaginative vision is as diverse and broad just as his background.
The artist grew up in Casablanca, and attended the Hotel school of Lausanne in Switzerland. After his graduation, he moved to Paris where he went for his post graduate studies and received a master’s degree in hotel management at the University of Paris-Dauphine. Kadmiri has lived in Rome, Barcelona, and has homes in Marrakesh, Morocco and Paris. He has made Atlanta his permanent residence. His striking use of color, dramatic flair, bold images and painterly effects create a range of emotions within the viewer. These allow the viewer to transcend the present moment and venture into a dreamlike place within the mind. He carries an internal world of American, European and Arabic influences. This gives his work its universal appeal.
