Jerry Ginsberg says that a photograph can express a great deal. It allows us to share beauty; the exquisite, incomparable and unparalleled beauty of nature. A rainbow, a beam of light, a cloud; all are unique and fleeting. When Ginsberg is fortunate to experience the joy of a special moment in nature, he’s moved to preserve it, to not let it go, to record it so that he can share it with others who are not there to see it n person. For him landscape photography is a necessity. Being out in the natural world among the mountains, lakes, trees the way nature has made and arranged them is surely one of the most satisfying things in life. Ginsberg strives to capture the very best of nature’s beauty from around the world. He has become the only person to photograph each and every one of America’s 59 national parks with medium format cameras.
The heavy equipment produces photographs with greater depth and a special dimension that’s not just possible with conventional cameras. Ginsberg says that our natural world is receding each day as civilization is constantly encroaching on it. Deserts, forests and open spaces are disappearing at an alarming rate. The ability to articulate these experiences and places in photographs and express them as art is a true blessing which he strives to improve and hone each time he’s in the field. Ginsberg brings to our living room the beauty of nature that he experiences while out there in the field.
