Katherine Gendreau is a fine art and landscape photographer from Bristol, Rhode Island. She currently lives in Brooklyn, NY. She first became interested in photography in 2006 when she moved to Rhode Island. Around sunset when the light was beautiful and golden, she’d go for a bike ride along the ocean every day, and she felt compelled to start photographing what she saw. The coast of New England still remains her very favorite place, though her work has taken her to many places outside of Rhode Island. In her images, she tires to capture a sense of wonder that she feels when she’s discovering a location for the first time. She’s represented by UGallery - a gallery which represents more than 500 artists from around the US. Her images emphasize the interaction of moving and stationary elements. She captures the accumulation of time in a single frame.
She also frequently experiments with intentional camera movement, where she deliberately moves the camera during an exposure creating a painterly effect and distilling the scene into a wash of color. She also visits many galleries and attends many exhibitions to observe the works of other photographers. She’s available for assignment and commission work upon request. Katherine also works frequently with interior designers and consultants for corporate projects. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College-Norton, Massachusetts. Various copies and prints of her work are currently found at the Only in Rhode Island store in Newport, Rhode Island, and at the Nubble Lighthouse gift shop in Cape Neddick, Maine.
