Born in Turin, Sergio Zaniboni (1937) is especially known as the artist of many stories for Diabolik. He is an Italian comics artist and writer. He started his comics career after working in advertisement and technical design. In 1967, Zaniboni collaborated with the magazine Horror and, in 1969, his collaboration with Diabolik began, and he still works with them. In 1972 he collaborated with Il Giornalino. For them, he has produced the police series Tenente Marlo and a series set in the boxing world called Il Campione (written by Alberto Ongaro). The former has stories written by Claudio Nizzi. Zaniboni also became an artist for the magazine Orient Express for the series I Reporters in the 1970s. In the 1980s his works included Pam/Peter, written by Luigi Mignacco and published on the magazine Comic Art, and also speedy Car for Il Giornalino.
In 2000, Zaniboni got the Yellow Kid Award for his work on Diabolik. In 1991 he drew in pencil a long story for Tex Willer. Zaniboni produced many other works including the Reporter Blues e Maj Lin that he did for Il Giornalino. He is one of the most respected creators in Italy and one of the most important artists that have worked on the Diabolik series. His first comics work was drawn for the publisher of Alè Toro. It was the adaptation of The Three Musketeers, but it was never published. He has pencilled more than 300 adventures, and is currently still drawing. His art can be found in many galleries, institutions and homes all over the world.
