Bob Pennycook Wall Art

Bob Pennycook is an artist from Tweed, ON, Canada. He’s a contemporary landscape artist who interprets nature in prints, acrylics and oils. He works mostly with acrylic on canvas. Relief printmaking and oil painting are also part of his painting practice. He’s inspired by the landscape that surrounds him and his art is an expressive interpretation of the colors, shapes, textures, patterns and rhythm of that landscape. He uses a personal approach to color, and builds layers of patterns through scraping, soaking, direct painting techniques and wiping. For him, color provides the emotional impact and his techniques complete the story. He has exhibited at Belleville Art Association; Belleville Public Library, Parrott Art Gallery; Agnes Jamieson Gallery, Minden, ON, SCA Elected Members, Federation of Canadian Artists, Leyton Gallery of Fine Art, St. John’s, NL; Flato Theatre, Markham, Outdoor art fairs; Warkworth, ON; Rednersville Road Art Tour, Warkworth, and Oakville, Belleville Public Library, and East Central Ontario Art Association, among other places.

He studied at Ontario College of Art from 1981 to 1985. He also studied at Emily Carr University, Vancouver and at University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, art courses. He has licensed his work through Sagebrush Publishing; Porterfields Fine Art and Penny Lane Publishing for use on trays, trivets, candles, cutting boards, greeting cards and posters. The current licenses with Crossroads include lamps, boxes and candles; with Current include mailing labels and greeting cards and posters for Penny Lane. Pennycook loves his work and he can’t imagine doing something different from art.
