Donna Basile Wall Art

Donna Basile is a fine artist whose pieces of art have received many international and national awards. Donna’s work is in many private and corporate collections. She lives in a house just next to the ocean with her son and husband. When not creating, the artist enjoys exercise, cooking and long walks along the beach where she’s inspired by findings of sea glass and sea shells. Derwent commissioned her to design a packaging cover art. This was meant for their new line of soft graphite pencils. She also designed the cover art for Ferry-Morse Seed Company organic and heirloom line of seed packets. She is not a photo-realist but a creative-realist. She only uses photographs only as a guide. The artist’s objective is to be creative and authentic in exploring new ideas and techniques, for she considers these to be the essential elements that keep her passion for art alive.

Her art has appeared in numerous publications including: Rockport Publishers, Washington Post, Colored Pencil Society of America Signature Showcase, East Coast-South Shore Living Magazine, among others. Donna feels comfortable working in a variety of mediums that include charcoal, colored pencil, oils, pen and ink, watercolor and. Acrylic. She understands and also appreciates each medium for particular purposes. She likes to use pastels because they are spontaneous and because they emphasize a combination of painting and drawing. On the other hand she likes oils for their abundantly rich color and ease of manipulation. She says that watercolors have life and minds all their own.
