Leslie Mark believes one of the greatest gifts of her life is rooted in being born in the Cranberry Island. Her mother and her sisters were raised on the same Island. Her grandfather was a boat builder there, and her grandmother made some of the best homemade donuts around. Leslie’s father is still a lobsterman more than 50 years after pulling his first traps from the waters. Living on the Island inspired her and her art because it was a unique way of life that left an indelible mark on her soul. The elements and the challenge of isolation give way to the gifts of creative inspiration, resourceful spirit and hearty resilience. She saw the ladies of the island sharing the tradition of handwork, sewing and knitting at the annual Ladies Aid fair and the Whales Rib gift shop. Her passion for being a designer is so much related to being an Island girl.
She’s involved in a lifelong passion with that tradition of hard work and handwork, sewing and fabric combined with a permanent desire to, create paint and draw. As a designer, her goal is to collaborate with people from other industries including manufacturers to provide adaptable designs which can be modified in color and scale to suit specific market trends, product designs, and ultimately be profitable in the marketplace. She’s fortunate to be energetic, happy, healthy, and to live in an area providing constant inspiration for her primarily designs that are nature-themed. Her personal Interests include painting, drawing, biking, doodling, hiking, walking, challenging her fears, and figuring stuff out.
