Steven Wilson Wall Art

Steven Wilson is an illustrator from North London but is currently living and working in Brighton, UK. Wilson fell in love with Brighton while he was studying for an illustration course there. He has a particular passion for working on album covers as he enjoys the fact that they are permanent. He likes the idea that with an album sleeve, his artwork is associated with that album forever so he is creating a little piece of history. Wilson can often be found foraging the local flea market for discarded paraphernalia and obscure books to use as inspiration for his experimental and varied work which he referrers to as “somewhere between psychedelia and pop.”

Some of his corporate clients include MTV, Nike, NYCGO, Microsoft, Adidas, Virgin Holidays, Selfridges, Converse, Neiman Marcus, Coke, BBC, Penguin books, LEVI's, The Fader, Sony BMG, Wallpaper magazine, Julien Macdonald, Time Magazine, The New Yorker, Warner music, New York Times, Mastercard, 125 Magazine, Virgin Media, Virgin Atlantic, Robert Plant, Costa, and 3 mobile.Wilson takes rock imagery from the 70’s, combines the spirit of 80’s New York, and squeezes through the brain full of tribal and circuses body art. As one would imagine, his influences are as eclectic as his techniques. He harnesses the spontaneity of play-doh, collage, pencil, and pen with endless possibilities of tools like Illustrator, Photoshop and other contemporary tools. He tries to keep his portfolio as varied as possible as that tends to mean he gets asked to do a variety of jobs and types of work which is how he likes it.
