Dolan Geiman Wall Art

Dolan Geiman (Born 1977) was born in Hermitage, VA. While growing up on a farm, he listened to midnight mockingbirds, caught crickets, bailed hay, and painted with mud. This is the experience that has stuck with him and has built the foundation for the artwork he sets forth into the world. Geiman is a mixed-media artist who specializes in the re-use of found materials (vintage papers, reclaimed wood, salvaged metal, etc) to create intricately detailed and highly textured original art pieces. He had worked for the USDA Forest Service as an Interpretive Naturalist, and he seeks to combine his studies of American history and biology with his interests in art-making. Inspired by his venerable attraction to country-western iconography, the flora and fauna of his native Shenandoah Valley, and agrarian and folk traditions, his expansive portfolio includes intricate paper collage portraits of classic American Animalia and icons, extensive artificial-taxidermy wall sculptures, as well as a large number of mixed media works.

Rich in narrative and multilayered, Geiman’s art weaves tales of untamed wilderness and foregone eras in an attempt to reignite a sense of wonder and adventure for the rugged American landscape. Today he lives on the road, selling his handcrafted 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional mixed media artwork at art fairs with his business partner and wife Ali Marie. His studio is currently located in Denver, Colorado. His artwork represents the intersection of his love for storytelling with his rural upbringing and love for found objects. His portfolio is vast, mediums and styles quite varied.
