Robert Deyber Wall Art

Robert Deyber (Born August 1955) grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. His father Robert Deyber Sr. survivor of the Bataan Death March, POW and a real estate broker, his mother, a fashion model and talented portrait artist, died when Deyber was 16. He began drawing and painting in his teens, and continued to develop a style that was surreal and original, drawing inspiration from the cultures that surrounded him as he lived in various parts of the country from San Francisco to New York City. Deyber eventually wound up in Milan, Perugia and Italy where he observed and studied the works of great Italian painters such as Giotto di Bondone. His early work from the 1980s and 1990s involves work that he describes as surreal American mythology or neo-surrealism. While he continued to show and develop his work, he was an executive in the airline industry.

This allowed him to travel all over the world exposing himself to art in many museums and galleries. Deyber continued for 20 years to exhibit his work in the Boston area. His artwork is full of surprises. Each painting a visual rendering of a clever turn on a common phrase, and every canvas revels in his sense of humor. Despite his sense of fun, Deyber is a seriously skilled painter. He began drawing at an early age. To him, art was a necessary means of escape from an otherwise difficult world. Deyber’s paintings convey an almost dreamlike quality and his artwork develops a story-line that the viewers can follow.
